If you’re from America or Canada, you might not know exactly what a horsebox is . . . even if you’re really into horses!

A Horsebox

“Horsebox” is a term mainly used among the British to refer to a small horse trailer. Horseboxes aren’t usually as large or fancy as some of our American horse trailers are. In fact, many American equestrians might find it amusing how tiny some European horseboxes can look.

A horse trailer can refer to a towed unit that is used to transport multiple horses (we’ve all seen those amazing, super-expensive trailers at horse shows that tow several horses). A horsebox, though, is almost always made to move a single horse.

So, the next time you see the term “horsebox,” don’t let it confuse you if you’re from America or Canada! Remember, equestrians in England, Australia and other overseas countries have their own terms for industry stuff that we might not use in our country. Just remember that a horsebox is just a small, compact horse trailer used to transport a single animal!  :)
