horse gift

Not many horse owners know the exact date of their horse’s birthday, but many of us still choose a date to celebrate it on! And there’s no better horse birthday gift than a big, delicious cake that your four-legged friend can enjoy right in the stall.

Here’s a recipe for a yummy apple and carrot no-bake horse cake that you’ll love to make . . . and your horse will love to eat!

birthday cake for horse

Horse Birthday Cake Ingredients:

Two cups of oats (old-fashioned oats that you can buy at the supermarket work just fine)

Two cups of horse sweet feed (or your horse’s favorite grain)

One apple (you’ll want to cut the apple into slices)

Two carrots (cut the carrots into small sticks, and grate one half of one of them)

One cup of molasses

Horse Cake Recipe Instructions:

Take the oats, sweet feed, grated carrot and molasses and mix them together in a big bowl.

After you’ve mixed all of the stuff, you’ll end up with batter that should be thick enough for you to shape it by hand and have it stay that shape. If the batter isn’t thick enough, add more oats or sweet feed. If it is TOO thick, add a little more molasses.

Once the batter is the right consistency, then you are ready to shape your birthday cake! Put it in a plate and use your hands to mold it into the shape that you want.

Once you’ve shaped your horse cake, use the apple slices to decorate it and add the carrot sticks as well (hint: the carrot sticks make great “birthday candles” if you want them to. Since it isn’t a good idea to have open flame in a barn or stable, this might be better to do than actual candles).

Once it’s done, put it in the fridge for a while before serving to your horse. Bon appetite!
