DIY Horse Treats: Sweet Alfalfa Horse Scones

Sweet Alfalfa Scones


  • 2 cups of store-bought pancake mix
  • 1 cup of water
  • 2 cups of alfalfa pellets
  • 1/4 cup of corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup of white sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Use a mixer to gently combine all of the ingredients.

Scoop the batter into a non-stick muffin pan (use about 1/5 cup of batter per scone) and bake for 18 minutes. You should have enough batter for 12 scones.

Let the scones cool in the muffin pan for about 5 minutes, then remove them from the pan and continue cooling on a rack or plate.

If desired, decorate with cookie frosting and let harden for several hours before serving to your horse. (Most horses can't eat these in a single bite; you'll need to break the scones apart for them.)
