Hey guys, it’s Krista with SaddleBox, and for today’s video, I’m going to show you the proper way to put on an English saddle.

Okay, so you’re going to start with your saddle pad first and you’re going to swing that up here, slightly on the withers and you want this line, as a general rule of thumb here, that goes down to their shoulder that can tell you where the pad is and if it’s sitting right on him.

And you’re going to take your saddle, swing up, make sure everything is nice and organized here. And for some horses, you would do the same thing with a cushioned support pad, you’d just put that on first.

How to Put an English Saddle on Your Horse

So once you have your pad on and your saddle, you can get your girth ready, and these are the same on both sides. I’m going to bring my girth up right here, and you want to do one and three, or whatever you can, but typically you’re going to want to do the first one and the third one. And it’s like a belt.

I’m going to do the third one for this one and I’m just going to pull upwards and kind of use my body to get that in, and that’s what it should look like. And you want to be able to stick your hand in here like any other girth so you’re not cutting them in half but it’s on nice and snug. There you have it. Then you put your stirrups down and you’re ready to go.

Alright y’all, that’s it for this video, I hope you enjoyed it and I’ll see you in the next one. Bye guys!
