Hey guys, it’s Krista with SaddleBox and in today’s video I’m going to show you how to de-tangle a really tangled mane.

So this is Keaton, and as you can see, he’s got these two lovely tangles here. They are basically dreadlocks. So I’m going to be showing you the products I use and the techniques I use to get these out. So first and foremost, I’m going to be using this Cowboy Magic product, it is the Detangler and Shine, it is amazing.

This is what is going to be the main component to remove the tangles. Next, I’m going to be using the Mane ‘n Tail Detangler, the friction free and slip one. This stuff is also really amazing and it’s just going to further help remove the tangles. And as far as brushes go, I’m just using a normal weaver brush.

So first I’ll be going in with the detangler spray. This is just going to be a general base for everything, and then I’m going to be using Cowboy Magic. So I’m going to be mainly focusing this on the tangled areas, especially right here, and then instead of using a brush right away, I’m going to be using my fingers to kind of pull it apart.

Some Cool Tricks to De-Tangle a Horse’s Mane

This way he’s going to lose less hair and it will just make it in general a better experience, it won’t pull on his hair as much and it will get the tangles out easier.

So I’m just going to be using my hands and mainly I’m just going to be trying to separate it all out and still use that oil in there where it may not have gotten. There we go, so I got one separated already. So as you can see, I’m just pulling apart and kind of gently easing my way in there.

So now as you can see, we’ve got the majority of this one out. I’m just going to add a little more spray to both of these. And so when you get to this point, you can generally start to use your brush.

And as you can see, there’s still a good amount of hair coming out, but not as much as what would come out if we just tried brushing it right away. So I’m going to kind of start where the tangles are, and I’m using my hand here so it doesn’t just pull on his mane really hard, and I’ll just kind of work my way up, just like that.

And he’s getting to where our tangles are pretty much gone, and there you have it.

As you can see, we’ve gotten all the tangles out here, and at this point, to prevent tangles, you would probably braid his hair, that just kind of prevents things like this happening again. But yeah, so that’s pretty much it.

Alright y’all, that’s it for this one. I hope you enjoyed it and I’ll see you in the next video. Bye guys!
