"Horse Snaps" Molasses Horse Cookies Recipe
- 1 cup dark molasses
- 3 & 3/4 cups flour
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
Preheat your oven to 425 degrees and grease cookie sheets.
Mix together the shortening and the sugar until the mixture is smooth, then gently stir in the dark molasses.
Combine the cinnamon, ginger, baking soda and flour, then blend in the dark molasses mixture. (If you need to, you can add a little more flour to the mixture to make it firmer.)
Roll out the mixture with a rolling pin to a thickness of about a quarter inch. Use a cookie cutter to cut out your horse cookies, then put them in the oven for 5 to 7 minutes.
Let them cool for a few hours before feeding them to your horses!
